Job Description

Act as Quality’s primary point of contact for assigned suppliers for all Quality related requirements, issues and opportunities. Provide oversight and guidance on all supplier quality related processes, work instructions, rating processes, ASL, special processes, audits, surveys, issues and opportunities including providing reports to management and customers as required. Responsible for ensuring our suppliers meet the stringent aerospace quality standards and specifications required by our customers, regulatory agencies and CPI Quality Management System. Work closely with both internal teams and suppliers to drive continuous improvement via corrective and preventive action plans, analysis of performance data, and development of specific improvement plans throughout the supply chain. Establish, develop and maintain supplier quality system procedures, work instructions, forms and supporting documentation in compliance with AS9100.

Essential Functions

  • Supplier Quality Management: Oversee supplier quality management including updating, developing and implementing quality assurance processes for supplier selection, evaluation, and performance monitoring. Identify suppliers that are not performing to CPI requirements including those that have a high number of defects, ncrs, and recurring quality issues, etc. Work with Supply Chain and others to conduct supplier audits, complete/update supplier surveys/questionnaires, etc. as required. Ensure suppliers adhere to quality requirements and standards specific to the defense industry, regulatory agencies, customer flow downs, and CPI QMS, etc. In collaboration with Quality Engineering and Supply Chain, administer and maintain CPI's Approved Supplier Listing and associated special approvals. Provide reports to management and customers as required.

  • Audits and Assessments: Conduct supplier audits, reviews and assessments to verify compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, customer requirements, contractual obligations and CPI QMS elements as required. Identify areas for improvement and collaborate with suppliers and others to implement corrective actions.

  • Quality Documentation: Review and approve supplier quality documentation, including certifications, surveys, questionnaires, inspection reports, test data, FAI’s, etc. Ensure that all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with industry standards and CPI’s QMS.

  • Problem Solving: Address and resolve quality issues related to supplier products, assemblies, components/parts and processes. Investigate and analyze root causes of defects or non-conformance, and work with suppliers to implement corrective and preventive actions. Utilize RCCA, FMEA’s and other techniques to determine root cause, corrective action and means to reduce supplier nonconformance risk.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain by analyzing quality metrics, identifying trends, and implementing best practices. Promote a culture of quality and excellence within the supplier base. Perform trend analysis and support variability reduction utilizing Lean Manufacturing and other advanced analytical skills such as Statistical Process control. Identify and develop data queries, ncr threshold levels, etc. in support of focus areas / initiatives as required.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, planning and manufacturing, to support new product development and ensure seamless integration of supplier components into our products.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant defense industry regulations, including ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations), EAR (Export Administration Regulations), Nadcap (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program), etc. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and regulatory changes.

Education/Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field or equivalent education and work experience. Certifications such as Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or similar are preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in quality engineering or supplier quality management, preferably within the defense or aerospace industry.

The salary range for this position is: $77,400-$115,000. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications and other factors allowed by law. Individuals are not typically hired at or near the top of the salary range.
