Job Description

The Welder will weld parts according to special instructions, blueprints and/or travelers. Perform plant functions of fusion welding techniques, Repair improperly welded pieces and any nonconforming products, Assist other welding personnel when necessary, Operate machinery and equipment, Perform equipment checks and change-overs, Measure parts to specified tolerances, Use chemicals, adhesives, solvents, lubricants, epoxies, paints, and inks, as required, Complete all paperwork of maintenance on machinery.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, carry and handle objects weighing 25-30 pounds. Lifting, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, grasping, holding, reaching, pushing and pulling are generally required to perform the functions of this position

Essential Functions

  • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures

  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements

  • Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)

  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded

  • Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces

  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)

  • Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps

  • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws

  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

Education/Experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience and High School Diploma or equivalent

The salary range for this position is: $49,000-$75,100. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications and other factors allowed by law. Individuals are not typically hired at or near the top of the salary range.
